This Privacy Policy explains how BALANCE (“we”, “us”, “our”)
collects, uses, shares, stores, and protects information when you use our
mobile application. By using BALANCE, you acknowledge this policy.
If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
At a glance
BALANCE is a personal finance app. You can use it without an account (local-only mode).
If you sign in with Google, we sync your data to Firebase (Google Cloud).
We do not sell your data, show ads, or collect payment card numbers.
Shared wallets expose wallet data to other invited members.
You can delete your account and cloud data in the app or via our
Account Deletion page.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Data controller: Vicente Méndez (developer of BALANCE) Contact / privacy requests:balance.dev.app@gmail.com
We aim to respond to privacy requests within 30 days.
2. Scope
This policy applies to the BALANCE Android app and related cloud services
used for sign-in, backup, and shared wallets. It does not apply to third-party
services you access through links in the app (such as Google’s own services),
which are governed by their own policies.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
Account information (optional): if you sign in with Google,
we receive your display name, email address, profile photo URL, and a unique
user ID from Firebase Authentication.
Financial and app content: transactions, amounts, dates,
categories, wallet names, reminders, app preferences (language, currency,
display settings), and optional assistant prompt preferences you save.
Shared-wallet activity: invitations you send, membership
in shared wallets, and financial entries you add to shared wallets.
Support communications: information you send us by email.
3.2 Information collected automatically
Device and app diagnostics: crash reports, stack traces,
and performance data through Firebase Crashlytics.
Usage analytics: aggregated events such as sign-in,
sign-out, account creation, and account deletion through Firebase Analytics.
Analytics may associate events with your Firebase user ID while you are
signed in.
Sync metadata: timestamps and sync status for cloud backup.
3.3 Local-only use (guest mode)
If you use BALANCE without signing in, your financial data is stored locally
on your device (SQLite). We do not receive that content unless you later sign
in and choose to sync it to the cloud.
3.4 What we do not collect
Payment card numbers or bank credentials (BALANCE does not process payments).
Precise location or GPS data.
Contacts, SMS, call logs, or microphone/camera content.
Data for advertising or cross-app tracking purposes.
4. How we use information
We use information to:
Provide core app features (recording, organizing, and summarizing finances).
Authenticate you and maintain your session.
Back up and sync data when you use a Google account.
Enable shared wallets and invitations between registered users.
Deliver local notifications for reminders you configure.
Diagnose crashes and improve stability (Crashlytics).
Understand feature usage in aggregate (Analytics).
Respond to support and legal requests.
5. Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions)
Where applicable, we rely on:
Performance of a contract: to provide the app and cloud sync you request.
Consent: for optional sign-in, notifications, and cloud backup.
Legitimate interests: to secure, maintain, and improve the app,
prevent abuse, and understand aggregated usage—balanced against your rights.
Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data under law.
6. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information only in these situations:
Service providers (processors): Google Firebase
(Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics) processes data on our
behalf to operate the app. Google’s policies apply:
Firebase Privacy,
Google Privacy Policy.
Other users (shared wallets): members of a shared wallet
can see and edit that wallet’s data according to app permissions. Your email
may be used to send or receive wallet invitations.
Legal requirements: if required by law, court order, or
to protect rights, safety, and security.
Business transfers: if the app or its assets are transferred,
data may be transferred subject to this policy.
7. International data transfers
Data synced to the cloud is stored and processed by Google on servers that may
be located outside your country (including the United States). Google provides
appropriate safeguards for international transfers as described in its
documentation and terms.
8. Data retention

discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share
personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To exercise your rights, email

from the address linked to your account when possible.
11. Security
We use industry-standard measures including HTTPS/TLS for data in transit,
Firebase security rules for cloud access control, and local storage on your
device protected by your device’s operating system. No method of transmission
or storage is 100% secure; please protect your device and Google account.

delivery of scheduled reminders after device restart.

collect additional personal data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised
version at this URL and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may
also be communicated in the app where appropriate. Continued use after changes
take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
